About Me

The mechanic behind Next Gen Auto Repair — who I am, how I got here, and why I do this work.

Hi, I'm Sebastian

I'm the owner and lead technician at Next Gen Auto Repair. I started this business in Bend after 15+ years of working on cars — first as a hobby, then professionally — because I wanted to do auto repair the way I always wished it had been done for me: honestly, transparently, and at your location instead of at a shop counter.

At a drift event with my dad

Where it started

My dad at a drift event with me. He's the reason I got into mechanics in the first place — the first guy who handed me a wrench and told me to figure it out. Drifting is also where I learned how hard it is to keep a car together while you're forcing it to do things it was never designed to do. Brakes overheating, axles giving up, suspension geometry punishing every weld — there's a lot of late-night garage time involved in chasing one good run.

How I got into wrenching

Like a lot of mechanics, I started by fixing my own cars. Then friends' cars. Then friends-of-friends. Somewhere along the way it stopped being a hobby and became a craft. I've worked on everything from daily-driver Hondas to project Porsches, diesel trucks to hybrid Toyotas. I learned the trade by doing the work — diagnostic by diagnostic, repair by repair.

At a drift event with my new puppy and my project car

Car culture

My project car and our new puppy at a local drift event. We've got two dogs now and they come with us pretty much everywhere — trail days, road trips, even the drift track. I grew up around cars, and the Pacific Northwest drift community is something I genuinely love being part of, dogs and all. You might even get to meet them during a service call!

Why mobile

The traditional shop experience is broken for a lot of people. You drop off your car, lose your transportation, wait for a phone call, and hope the estimate doesn't go up halfway through the job. Mobile flips all of that. I come to your driveway or workplace, give you a firm quote before I start, and do the work where you can watch it happen. No tow trucks. No loaner cars. No surprises.

Making pizza with the kiddo at home

The important things first

Making pizzas at home with the kiddo. Family is the thing that keeps everything else honest — work, time, priorities.

What I care about

Three things, in order:

  • Honesty. If you don't need a repair, I'll tell you. If a job is outside what I can do mobile, I'll refer you somewhere good rather than fake my way through it.
  • Clear communication. You'll always know what I'm doing, why, and what it costs — before I do it.
  • Doing the job right the first time. I'd rather take an extra hour and do it correctly than rush and have you back in a week.

When I'm not wrenching

Cars are what I do for work, but they're not all I do. Bend is home, and I try to make the most of it.

Pumpkin patch with the kiddo

Central Oregon kid stuff

Pumpkin patches, hayrides, parades — the Central Oregon family-life calendar. I was raised with extremely strong family values and I'm doing everything I can to pass that on — giving them the kind of childhood that makes a place feel like home.

At Smith Rock with my other half

She makes it all work

At Smith Rock with my other half. She's the one who keeps Next Gen running on the back end — bookkeeping, taxes, accounting, every form and filing that has to be done properly and legally. I'd be lost without her in life and in business. The fact that she'll also hike a desert spire with me on the weekend is just a bonus.

At the Oregon coast with my dog

The Oregon Coast — with the dog

That's me and the dog tucked inside what we call 'the big stump' on the Oregon Coast. Nobody around can really tell you how old it is, how long it's been sitting there, or how it ended up that way — and I love that. The world is older and stranger than we usually give it credit for, and there's still so much we don't understand about how the planet works. The older I get, the more interesting I find the parts that nobody can quite explain.

A range day with a friend

Range days & friends

Out at the range with a buddy. Time with the people I care about, doing the things that feel like the high desert: open sky, big rigs, and not much in a hurry.

Credentials & insurance

Licensed and insured in the state of Oregon. Factory-grade diagnostic tools. Continuing education on the platforms I service most often — Porsche, BMW, Audi, Subaru, Toyota, Honda, Ford, Chevrolet, Nissan, Hyundai/Kia. Happy to provide references on request.

Let's work together

If your car needs anything — from a routine oil change to a check engine light you've been ignoring — call, text, or email and I'll come to you.
